O dear, dear, dear….

Feb-28-2011 By mistyeiz

Since I started knitting, I have been trying to be a very good girl and not succumb to buying yarn for the sake of buying. Although I am not yet a full-fledge yarn hoarder stasher, I think I might be on my way!! O.o I am glad that I cannot afford to buy those really gorgeous yarns like Wollmeise – they really cost an arm and a leg. If you’re lucky to score some that someone is destashing, the cheapest per skein that I’ve seen is AU27+postage. O.O

If I ever want to buy yarn like that, I best be looking for a job, even if it’s something that I am not familiar with like in the healthcare job listings!! lol What I’m trying to stick to is buying yarn for a specific project that I want to do. At the same time, I also want to learn more about each yarn and how it feels hence I tend to look at sales or destashings to get quality yarn (doesn’t need to be exxy). Something that I know is still within my budget – I’d hate to break my piggy bank. That would hurt way too much!! I have to remember that I still go FABRIC shopping too. :P

New glasses for me!

Feb-28-2011 By mistyeiz

It’s been ages since I last changed my glases and it’s SO old, the lens have this yellowy thinge to it. Yes, it’s that old and plus it’s plastic and not easily breakable. I’ve always been the clumsy one so plastic is what I always go for given the choice, the hardier…the better! And now that I’ve got kids, I can’t afford to get expensive glasses that are flimsy. The funny thing about glasses is that the flimsier the frame, the more expensive it is. What gives?? Anyway, I am scheduled for my eye test on 8/3, that’s Tuesday…the same day poor Brandon is getting his shots.

But unlike him, who I’m sure is not looking forward to Tuesday, I cannot wait for it! I wished it would come sooner….I’m so over these specs of mine, I’m about to throw it out the window. I’m not sure what I’m looking for in a frame but something that gives me a different look, hopefully. Tessa, my friend from the mom’s club was telling me about rifle scope, but since I’m thinking of getting plastic lenses, I don’t think they have it for the lenses I’m after. O well, we’ll see what happens when I get there. Can’t wait!! :)

NOT! Needless to say that the thing I envy most about people with perfect skin is just that – their PERFECT skin. I dont have that at all. I never had it and will never know what it would be like to be acne and scar free. I am plagued by it and have been like that since I was a teen.

But I am thankful that as I age, they are getting lesser (the acne that is) but not the blackhead – cursed things! Growing up, I reckoned I have tried every single “best acne cream” that was recommended to me. When you are young, you’d try anything and everything to rod yourself of acne but I guess Mother Nature wanted to do it her way and it took time before it all started to subside.

These days, I am not too concerned about pimples and acne anymore. I have more important things to battle – wrinkels and crow’s feet!! :/

Hoo-what?

Roxy just had her monster baby!!! :P All 4.2kg….my goodness, I’m just glad she’s still in one piece. Both mum and bub are well which is a good thing coz seeing the size of bub. Phew!! When she just found out that she was preggers, she asked me to sew her some wraps which was a breeze coz at the same time, I was sewing some for Brandon so a few extra hems didnt hurt one bit. I’m glad that she decided against those onesies that she wanted coz it wouldn’t have fitted Max at all! I don’t think she expected such a huge bub at that time. Brandon was 3.5kg and that was more than enough for me – still cant imagine it seeing that she is this tiny thing!

Anyway, now that bub is out, she’s anxious to get her figure back and was asking me about this hoodia supplement. I told her that I didn’t know much about it and that losing weight could wait awhile coz she is still nursing. But I guess she just can’t stand all that additional weight she put on when she was preggers….I don’t blame her, I still have mine from Arianna!! O.o

Que sera, sera

I was talking to my bestfriend the other day and she was telling me about some of her internet marketing strategies that she intends to use for her new business. I’m just so excited for her because she’s always wanted to open her own business and now she can. :) She’s into handmade jewellery and already has a small customer base so she’s got her foot in the door. With access to an online store, I reckon she’s got a chance at making it big and I couldn’t be more excited for her.

As for me, I too have dreamt of owning a business but my simple mind can’t work out how the whole thing works! lol The thought of suppliers, accounts, numbers and all, scares the heck of out me but you know, perhaps one day when I do work it out, I might take the plunge too. Who knows eh? :)

Baby wearing

Feb-20-2011 By mistyeiz

The first ever baby carrier we bought was a Baby Bjorn and this was before Arianna was born. For awhile we thought it was godsend, but after sometime, I began to notice that to me, it wasn’t doing my shoulders any good at all. In fact, it hurt a fair bit and I couldn’t carry her for long AND you could only carry on the front. Talk about the lack of choice.

Since then, I’ve always wanted to try out other types of carriers and but never wanted to BUY any. So when I got my sewing machine, I started to sew my own.

Now, it’s Brandon’s turn – not a flattering pix at all is it? lol :P

Testing a mei tai
Then I tested with a mei-tai – not a particularly happy KR here. lol Got bored with all the pix I think! :P

Onbuhimu with KR
Finally the Onbuhimu which is an excellent back carrier! :)

Onbuhimu with Arianna
I could even carry Arianna in it!

Now I can’t wait for Brandon to get a wee bit stronger around the neck so I can wear him. :)

Toilet training

Feb-17-2011 By mistyeiz

I’m back to being a dilemma once again. :( When we were back in Kulim last year, I wanted to TT (toilet train) Arianna there coz we had marble flooring which meant that cleaning up all the accidents would be a heck lot easier but it never happened. She just didn’t get that she was wetting herself despite the puddle at her feet. So we stopped trying TT. Now that she’s turning 4 in August, I’m really hoping that she will be prepared to start TT again but alas, there are no signs. My issue is that I dont know how to re-educate her that the toilet is also used for weeing and not just to poo. She’s got a one track mind and since she’s been pooing on the toilet since she was before 3yrs, it’s VERY tough trying to explain to her that we also wee in the same place. I’m at a total loss here.

So far, she hasn’t really told me directly that she needs to poo but its me who has to keep an eye on her behaviour and just remember that she goes every 2 days. It’s not tough to remember because the girls “remind” me as they both go on the same day. lol So if KR goes (in her nappy) then I know that it’s time for Arianna too. :P Hhmm….talking about poo just reminded me that there is an article about colon cleansing that Chichi asked me for. I’ll have to go and look for it now!

Crochet anyone?

Feb-17-2011 By mistyeiz

ETA : This is the doily I saw that tipped me over the edge to get back to crocheting! Isn’t it just GORGEOUS??? Sorry, I couldn’t really put the exact pix in here due to copyright issues but here’s the link instead. :)

Ok, ok…I know this is more than abit much but I can’t help it! lol Blame it on Flickr coz it was there that I got bitten by the crochet bug.

In saying that, no…I havent started crocheting but that doesn’t mean that I won’t. All in due time, I say….actually, what really got my crochet juices going was this gorgeous vintage doily I saw on Flickr. I would love to put the pix up here but the owner has yet to come back to me with permission to do so. Hence, all I can do is just tell you about it. Thankfully its a free pattern and I’ve already got it bookmarked! :)

As soon as I’ve completed one of my 3 WIPs. I think I might start on crocheting…. :P

Overactive kids

Feb-15-2011 By mistyeiz

I must sound as if I’m making excuses but really, I think my kids are overactive because there is no where from them to run it off. We live in a top floor unit and while our balcony is relatively large, the surface is rough so I can’t really leave the kids out there on their own. And even if I did, Lord knows what they’d do out there! lol The girls are not tall enough that they could fall over the balcony (thank god!) but still, someone always needs to keep an eye on them because while they love each other in their own little way….they can easily murder the other one in the blink.

Never underestimate the cuddly child for she has the temper of a tiger with a toothache. Once she flies off the handle, that’s it. Nothing is safe from her…it’s really amazing to see the transformation because when she is her normal self, she is just absolutely lovely and cuddly. Arianna has somewhat turned into someone who can take it, so to speak. She doesn’t usually retaliate unless she is really upset then the hair pulling and scratching will start. Till todate, they have only had vitamin C tablets if you’re wondering if they are taking any sort of vitamins. Because they are both still on formula milk (Ted doesnt believe in fresh cows milk – it’s a long story), I think it’s a good balance of vitamins there. On top of that, they do still eat some veg and fruit. So, are you pumping your kid with vitamins? What are they?
