Crafting everyday keeps the doctor away

Today, I can finally share what my kids wore on this very special day. First up is the flowergirls dresses that I had been carrying on for forever! LOL What started out as a one colored dress/sash ended up as a cream dress with a dark turquoise sash with handmade roses. :) So I cannot claim full credit for the dresses, I’ll have to share the limelight with Mum (for sewing on the sash and roses onto the sash) and sis for making the roses. :)

This is about the best pix I could find with all the flower girls actually in the pix. Sadly there are no close up though. :( The underskirt/tutu I made wasn’t meant to be seen but somehow, it did show and I reckon it looks a lot cuter as it peeks out from under the skirt! :)

And this is just to show what we did with the hair. Sis wanted all the girls to tie up only half of their hair and tie ribbons to it. Love how it turned out. :)

Next up are some shots taken of the kids in their Indian costumes that they wore to sister’s Hindu ceremony in Klang. They also wore different patterned Indian costumes to the wedding reception in Penang. Please bear in mind that I didnt sew these at all, although the last pix of me in the white Punjabi suit is one that Mum sewed up! She’s just AMAZING!!! :D

A rather unflattering pix of me and my big mouth but for the sake of the Punjabi suit, I will ignore the ugly me! lol :P You cant really see the whole suit so I’ll try and post a pix of the suit by it self one of these days so you can see it. Hope you liked what you’ve seen, Sam! :)

A dream come true

If I could combine the 2 things that I love best, it would be traveling the world while in search for all those unique and locally made fabric like the gorgeous prints of the Native Americans or colorful African prints. While these are common in their own country or people, to other fabricholics like moi, it would be an eye opener for sure!

Bea is holding one of those Ticketing Agent Jobs and she used to tell me how envious she was of some of her customers who come in and book around-the-world tours…cruise! I’d die for one of those too so I am not surprise at her envy at all. lol Ted and I would love to go on a cruise too, but not just yet. In time, but not just now. :)

Where’s my duster?

*dusting and fighting with cobwebs* It’s actually been that long since I last posted and its mostly thanks to the stress that we were all under preparing for my sister’s wedding last weekend. Phew!! I have to say that I am glad to see the back of all things that are wedding related and I’m glad that I dont have to worry about wedding for at least another 20+ years! LOL :P

All in all, sister’s wedding took 2 weekends to complete coz they had 2 ceremonies – the Hindu and church service. So in all fairness, I can finally show off what the kids wore at the wedding now that it is over. :) Still busy uploading pix but will post them as soon as I get everything organized. :)

The ultimate seamstress sin

Nov-7-2011 By mistyeiz

My sister’s wedding is merely 2 weeks away and I still havent finished the last flower girls dress!! :P Talk about procrastinating…..I’m getting there but at a snail’s pace and of course the bridezilla is not too happy about it. Poor thing is stressing out about a lot of things but I reckon this is quite the norm. I am just thankful that my aunt let me use her machine while I am here if not, I think I’d be more stress than the bride!! So while I am waiting for the OL to come back from servicing, I have been just sewing up the underskirt that doesnt need to be OL. I hope we get it back in the next few days coz I really have to get cracking!

Anyhoo, seeing that I am SOOOOOOOOOOO behind sewing and well, I dont have time to sew clothes for the kids for the wedding, I have committed the ultimate seamstress sin – I went and got store-bought stuff. *hangs head in shame* The only consolation is that even if I could sew this, I wouldnt…..too fiddly in my personal opinion. What I bought I am not allowed to say coz it’s a surprise but trust me….I cannot wait to get the kids dressed up in these!!!

And because they are spoilt, they each have 2 sets each…but Mummy is more spoilt but am not telling how many I got! Heh. :P I also cannot wait to complete this dress coz I wanna sew other stuff for the kids especially the girls. I went and got some cute fabric of lime green and lilac with white polka dots and I am just SOOOOOO eager to sew something up for the girls. I actually brought some pattern books with me so I am roaring to go!! Excited!!!! :D
