Slowly getting there…

Dec-22-2011 By mistyeiz

I’ve been trying to finish 2 more summer dresses for the girls – Tropical Blend from Otto 3/11 (I think) but with Ted here, this is proving to be quite hard! lol Mainly because we are out the whole day, taking the kids out and all that. By the time we get back, I’m super tired and well, abt ready to hit the sack big time. But it has to be done n finished by Christmas so I really do have to buck up. Although the dresses are close to getting finished, I have been sewing up simple shorts for the girls as well. I used my old jeans and some scrap fabric to sew these up – nothing fancy just the shorts pattern from the Emily pattern I sewed just recently.

Anyway, today, I committed another one of those sewing sins – I bought ready made pants for Brandon!! :P Yea, I caved in and got him proper fitting pants coz the ones I got for him was apparently too big but because he’s already walking these days, the pants are truly falling off and making it really tough for him to walk. I had forgotten how expensive kids clothes are! >.< These pants cost me RM42 and this was already 50% off! :/ SCARY…..so while he slowly grows into these, I hope that I will be able to find more time to dedicate myself to sewing more things for him. But this will only likely be when we return home after NY. *sigh* Time…..why do you leave me so quickly????

Safe and sound

Yay!!! Ted’s finally here!! :) Yup, he arrived last night and the thunderstorm that was forecasted didnt happen so that is excellent news for me. :) I was truly worried from the time he told me about it which was like 2 hours before his flight took off until he arrived in Penang. Praise God for the safe and smooth flight.

I must say that he thoroughly enjoyed himself coz he was traveling Business Class on both sectors. Poor man’s gotta come down from the cloud on the flight home as we travel in cattle class. :P He told me that when he wasnt watching any movies, he had been thinking a lot about continuing his studies. Mind you, he already has a PhD but has been thinking about hitting the books again but not sure if he wants to go to classes or just get an Online bs degree. He hasnt quite decided but he will have to soon if he wants to enrol. As for me, ideas of studying again has not crossed my mind. I dont think I have the energy nor focus to start now. Perhaps when the kids are older…this could be an option. :)

Emily – Puzzle Me (Mamu Designs)

I’ve FINALLY got my sewjo working a little bit! :D Quite happy to be sewing again although I wish I could spend more time sewing instead of screaming at the kids to not annoy/hit/whack/scratch/bite each other every other 5 minutes – very tiring you know! I’m normally totally out of steam by tea time and dinner time seems to take forever! *sigh* See why I really NEED to sew to just to find SOME peace (as much I am able to)?

Anyway, I’ve been wanting to sew up some summer things for the kids but so far the girls have been benefiting the most. lol ;) I’ve been sewing some dresses for them and this is the first lot. I picked a Mamu Design pattern called Emily (Puzzle Me). This pattern has 8 pieces which you can mix and match to create whatever you want from a one piece frilly dress to a halter neck pants thingy. This time, I sewed a one piece frilly dress and a 2 piece halter neck + frilly skirt.

Managed to get the girls to pose near the Christmas tree without tearing it down. KR is wearing the one piece dress and Arianna is wearing the purple 2 piece.

And just coz I love this shot….

My overall view of this pattern is quite good. I had bought this pattern simply because it is so versatile and rather girly, what will all the ruffles and all. Definitely looking forward to sewing more this coz it is so screams out summer! :)

Fast and on the double!

I am amazed at home some people are able to run a fairly huge online business and then juggle studying and caring for 4 kids!! I am in total awe to be absolutely honest. I only have 3 kids and yet, I am finding it so hard to organise myself so that I have as much ME time as possible.

I guess one way for me to de-stress is to go online shopping which I do rather frequently all thanks so some really excellent side income that I have found. :) With all my shopping online, I am very in favour of methods that allow me to literally go truck tracking so that I can have an idea when to expect my parcel(s) to arrive. I think its a good idea for me coz my stuff all ends up with my MIL hence, I dont have to worry about going to the PO myself to collect it! :P Clever arent I?

Home decor troubles

Dec-7-2011 By mistyeiz

Sis recently bought a new place and while waiting for the house to be finished (they can hopefully move in by end of 2012), she has been busy trying to think of home decor ideas and one of it was what sort of furniture to get. All our life, wood has been a major part of our home decor. Today, after many years of using fabric covered sofas, Mum finally got herself a wooden sofa set and it is excellent!!

So I’m thinking that Sis should get some rustic furniture just to make it more….I dunno, rustic I guess. :P But my decor skills are close to nil so I am looking forward to see what she comes up with.

I was meant to blog about this but somehow it totally slipped my mind! Being a big fan of Ottobre, I was totally over the moon to find out that I had won a EU50 Otto Etsy shop voucher in a giveaway CM had. :D After a really hectic and stressful weekend (the weekends when sis got married), it was such a pleasant and wonderful surprise.

I’ve since been browsing and picking my fabric and after some discussion on my forum, I’ve decided to get 1/2m of the fabrics that I like. That way, I have more choices. I’m glad that I have about 3 months to decide on my fabrics which means that when the new ones come in, I could pick them too! :D Very exciting, very happening and just VERY!!!

I dont have many designer fabrics because more often than not, they are not within my budget even though I know how durable and good they are. People always say, when you buy, buy the good ones so they last. But if you cant afford, then you cant afford. Anyhoo, finally I can get my hands on some of the really good stuff. I’m definitely saving up to add on some other stuff that I’ve seen and like!! EXCITING!!!! ^.^

Finally getting my sewjo working

Dec-4-2011 By mistyeiz

Things have finally calmed down a bit and life is becoming more normal. It’s been so quiet after those hectic weeks and late nights that right after Mum and I came home from the wedding reception on Saturday night, we were lost!! Simply because we didnt have anything to mend, sew, fuss about or worry about. LOL :P

So instead of just idly sitting around and not doing anything, I’ve started to sew some dresses for the girls. I brought some patterns and Otto books down with me so I’m going to sew up some simple summer dresses so that the girls can wear them when we get home.

I’ve already traced them out and now, I’ve started to cut out the fabric. Hopefully I can start sewing tomorrow or so! :)
